Pro Bono Work: Video Production for Fostering Change
At 023, we feel it is our duty to use our experience and resources to support projects whose goal is to help those who need it most, without expecting anything in return. That is why, over the years, we have collaborated with organizations such as Red Cross, HP’s Charity Journey, Maya’s Illusion, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Lean In Barcelona, Aflote, among others.
2024 has been no different and, among our list of clients, we would like to highlight our pro bono work for non-profit organizations. Because they present causes which are so profound and compelling that we feel the need to engage with them. We offer our services in order to share their mission with the rest of the world.
In a world that sometimes feels cold and overwhelming, there are people who are deeply committed to helping others and supporting the communities they cherish, without expecting anything in return. Our main objective is to shine a spotlight on their work and raise awareness about their vision so that others can collaborate on their cause. We give them the audiovisual production they deserve.
HP’s Charity Day
A project that perfectly demonstrates its noble goal is HP’s Charity Day. It is a day dedicated to raising funds for different NGO projects and, besides, it is the main social event happening in the HP Site in Barcelona. The event is created and supported by HP employees who participate as volunteers to actively organize the whole charity day and the related activities.
We have had the honor to be one of the sponsors of such an event for over 10 years now, and this year was not an exception. We produced a video highlighting its key moments. At the end of the day, 90.000 € were raised for projects aimed at having a social impact. Some of them are: “Water for Childhood”, “NOIMA’s Fabrication Laboratory”, “Señales de alarma”, “Green & Wash Space” and “Stand-up a Child”.
HP’s CodeWars
As incredible as it may sound, this is not the only event HP employees organize on top of their time and main job. HP’s CodeWars would not take place without them. The event’s main focus is to have an impact on young students who would like to pursue a STEM career. In other words, it is a day to encourage new talent by giving them a chance to show their best programming skills. Like HP’s Charity Day, 023 has been one of the event’s sponsors and supporters for years. We have always believed in and supported young and emerging talent, as they are the future of our world and deserve to be given opportunities such as these. Thus, every time we are presented with the possibility to sponsor and involve ourselves in this event, we cannot refuse.
NOIMA, school of new opportunities
And when we talk about boosting young people’s careers, we must mention our participation with NOIMA. Straight from La Garrotxa, this school specializes in the accompaniment and training of teenagers and young adults between the ages of 16 to 24 who have been excluded from the educational and labor systems. We were extremely happy to collaborate with them in the production of a video surrounded by La Fageda’s iconic natural scenery. We were able to interview some of their students, who gladly shared their experiences. Not everyone is born with the same opportunities, but we want everyone to have the chance to choose their future.
Fundació Villavecchia, let’s let children be children
Finally, we could not finish this post without making a special mention of what we hope will be the first of many collaborations with “Fundació d’Oncologia Infantil Enriqueta Villavecchia”. They are a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life of children who suffer from serious and terminal illnesses. Their project is unique in our country and it helps hundreds of children and families who find themselves in a very adverse situation, providing them with coverage for their needs. They are a spark of hope and dedicate their efforts to giving these children the chance to have a childhood like any other child, even though they share very different realities.
At 023 we strongly support their mission, so we joined forces with them in order to produce two videos to share their work with the rest of the world. Firstly, we captured the essence of the organization in a video where we could hear the testimonies of families who benefit from this project, together with celebrities, doctors and volunteers who support the cause. The message is clear: live a life to the full, regardless of its length. Let’s let children be children.
In order to be loyal to this last phrase, the organization arranges different activities for kids, one of which consist of children writing letters with their wishes to the Three Wise Men. This year we have made a very special video compiling all the letters that have been written throughout the years. Letters which are full of dreams, joy and hope. Because this is how it should be for the little ones.
